Supreme
Court has ordered a stay on releasing Ram Charan Zanjeer, the movie that would
mark the debut of Tollywood hero Mega Power Star, Ram Charan Tej.
Amit
Mehra the producer of this movie, a remake of the 1970's Zanjeer, with
the same name. The original movie was his father's own super hit flick.
The remake rights for the movie were acquired earlier legally from his
brothers, Puneet and Sumeet. However Amit fell into troubled waters
after the contract was terminated becase the promised sum was not payed
up front.
Amit
Mehra moved to the Bombay High Court seeking a permit for his movie
release clearing the case. Bombay High court has passed a judgement in
the producers favor while ordering him to pay the defaulted money within
eight weeks of the release. The due amount was Rs 1.8 Cr.
The
brothers were however not happy with the decision and moved to the Apex
court which stayed the release. It ordered that an arbitrator should
come to an amicable solution within six weeks.
This means that fans cannot see Ram Charan in Bollywood until six weeks at least. No more promos too!
